Making Miffy Butter Biscuits

Posted by Miffy on September 09, 2019

Miffy loves baking with Aunt Alice – she bakes everything from bread to cookies! Melanie is coming over to play later this week so Miffy has made her some tasty treats to enjoy.

What You Need to Make Miffy Butter Biscuits

  • 250g softened butter
  • 140g caster sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 300g plain flour
  • Miffy cookie cutters

How to make the dough:

Make sure you've washed your hands & have your apron on because this could get a little bit messy!

First things first, mix the softened butter & caster sugar in a large bowl with a wooden spoon. Then carefully add the egg yolk (remember to separate it from the white first) & the vanilla extract. Stir this all together – if you get tired, you could ask an adult to help!

Next use a sieve to sift the plain flour into the mixture & stir until the mixture all blends together. You might need to use your hands at the end to give everything a really good mix & press the dough together – that's it, just like that!

Wrap your dough in cling film and leave it in the fridge for an hour. That's enough time to watch an episode or three of Miffy's Adventures Big and Small on Tiny Pop!

STEP 1

Take the dough out of the fridge & roll it out using a rolling pin. Then with your Miffy cookie cutters, you have fun cutting out as many shapes as you can of Miffy, Boris Bear & pretty flowers! Don't they look cute? Quickly pop them all on to a lined baking tray in neat little rows, making sure there is space between them so they can expand whilst cooking.

STEP 2

Ask an adult to put the tray into the oven on 170°, bake for around 15 minutes or until the biscuits are a lovely golden brown. Mmmm…. don't they smell tasty? Miffy loves it when the kitchen fills with the smell of something delicious.

STEP 3

Ask a grown-up to take the biscuits out of the oven – be careful because they're very hot –  let them cool for 15 minutes before decorating them, otherwise your icing might slide off!

STEP 4

If you have some cooking chocolate in your cupboard, why don't you melt some for Miffy's ears?

Ask an adult to heat a pan of water and place a heatproof bowl in it. Add the chocolate pieces and wait until they melt, stirring occasionally, until you have a chocolate river! Next, dip Miffy's ears into the melted chocolate &, quick as a flash, before they dry, decorate them with sprinkles. Perfect!

STEP 5

Leave the chocolate to set before you serve them up to your friends and family. Yum!
